Peru is indeed undergoing a tough situation as the intense rains, overflowing rivers, mudslides and flooding are still being experienced in the country. It is said to be the worst state that the country has been seen in within the past two decades, Peruvian authorities said that the recent happening affected more than half the nation as the death toll since the beginning of the year hits 72 and more than 100 injured after heavy rain continued its wave of destruction since the rainy season began earlier this month.

The Peruvian government said more than 60,000 people have been displaced and several cities have declared states of emergency. The people from Peru were all stunned to see people trying to escape the deadly mudslides and some of them were able to capture videos of those people trying to survive. The clips were said to be heartbreaking and shocking at the same time.


More harrowing footage from Peru shows unbelievable escape from the catastrophic mudslide that’s sweeping through Lima. The video shows a man miraculously escaping the raging flood that swept him away while inside his truck. Filmed in the Peruvian district of Chosica, the footage was recorded a short distance from Punta Hermosa.

Another amateur video showed one woman's dramatic escape in Punta Hermosa, a suburb of the capital of Lima. The woman, who was identified in media reports as Evangelina Chamorro Diaz, pulled herself out from under fallen debris and walked. She was completely covered in mud over the fallen wooden panels.

Diaz survived by grabbing onto tree branch and pieces of wood. She is being treated at a hospital and is in stable condition.


As of press time, a state of emergency has been declared in about half of Peru after 1,250 km's of highway was destroyed and more than 56,000 acres of crops were totally damaged.
