A young woman named Danielle Jacobs whose living with Asperger’s syndrome has uploaded a footage of herself suffering a violent breakdown to raise more awareness of their medical condition. Danielle is seen crying in the video and is about to do self harming before her dog comes up to stop her.
Asperger syndrome (AS), also known as Asperger's syndrome, Asperger disorder (AD) or simply Asperger's, is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. It differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relative preservation of linguistic and cognitive development. - Wikipedia
It can be seen on the video that she hit herself several times in the head and on the chest, with her loyal dog named Samson who used his paws to try and prevent her from doing more self-harm. Danielle drops to the floor and Samson curls up next to her and licks her face, which calms her.
‘This is what’s considered a meltdown. Yes, Samson is alerting. I trained him to alert to depressive episodes [or] self harm [but] not both, but [still] he alerted. It appears the response is late, but it’s actually supposed to be as I’m coming out of the meltdown as I tend to have a panic attack after.’ - Danielle Jacobs
The video was uploaded to social media so that general public will be alerted on these kind of medical condition, their symptoms, their struggles, etc.
‘This is what having Asperger’s is like. Please no negative comments this really happened and it’s not easy to open myself and share what it’s like on a daily basis.’ - Danielle Jacobs
